  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine molasses, salad oil, sugar, spices, and salt. Mix well.
    • Add the eggs to the mixture and beat until combined.
    • In a separate small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in 1/8 cup of boiling water, then stir it into the batter.
    • Gradually add the flour and the remaining water to the mixture. Stir until smooth; the batter will be thin.

    • Pour the batter into a greased 9″x13″ baking pan.
    • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 30-40 minutes.

    • In a saucepan, combine 1 stick of butter, 1/4 cup of milk, and 1 cup of brown sugar.

    • Drizzle the warm glaze over the gingerbread before serving, if desired. Enjoy!
