Southern 7 Layer Salad in a Mason Jar

Dressing

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, and pepper. Mix well until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Bacon
While the dressing chills, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until it’s crispy. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to cool, then chop it into bite-sized pieces.

Eggs
Dice the hard-boiled eggs into bite-sized pieces using a knife or an egg slicer.

To Serve
For a fun presentation, serve in large mason jars (21 oz) for individual portions. You can also arrange the ingredients in bowls or a large trifle dish for a family-style option.

  1. Add a couple of spoonfuls of dressing to the bottom of each jar.
  2. Layer with chopped lettuce, diced onions, red bell pepper, peas, diced eggs, and crispy bacon.
  3. If using mason jars, screw the lid on, shake gently to mix, and eat straight from the jar. Alternatively, pour the contents into a bowl and enjoy!
