Steak with Lemon and Capers
- Prepare the Steaks:
- Lightly flatten the steaks with a meat mallet to even out their thickness for cooking.
- Season and Coat:
- In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup flour, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each steak into the flour mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- Sauté the Steaks:
- In a large skillet, heat a mixture of 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons olive oil over medium heat until hot.
- Add the steaks to the skillet and sauté for about 4 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
- Once cooked, remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
- Make the Sauce:
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Pour in the 1/2 cup white wine and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the liquid slightly reduces.
- Add Capers and Finish Cooking:
- Stir in the 2 tablespoons capers.
- Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning some sauce over them. Cover the skillet and let them simmer over low heat for an additional 4 minutes to heat through and absorb the flavors.
- Serve:
- Plate the steaks and spoon the garlic-caper sauce over the top. Enjoy your delicious pan-seared steaks!
