Sweet and Spicy Nuts

  1. Prepare the Spice Mix
    • In a small bowl, mix together cumin, cayenne, ground cinnamon, and salt. Set aside for later use.
  2. Toast the Nuts
    • In a dry skillet, heat the nuts over medium heat.
    • Cook, stirring frequently, until they begin to toast and become fragrant, about 4 minutes.
    • Transfer the toasted nuts to a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Make the Glaze
    • In the same skillet, add butter, sugar, water, and the prepared spice mix.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until a glaze forms, about 1 minute.
  4. Glaze the Nuts
    • Return the toasted nuts to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly with the glaze.
    • Continue cooking for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the nuts are fully glazed and golden brown.
  5. Cool the Nuts
    • Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the glazed nuts to a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
    • Use a fork to separate the nuts and prevent clumping.
    • Let them rest until cooled and the sugar has hardened, about 10 minutes.
  6. Store
    • Once cooled, store the spiced glazed nuts in an airtight container for snacking.
