  • Infuse the Syrup:
    • Grate fresh ginger and turmeric.
    • In a saucepan, combine the grated ginger, turmeric, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil.
    • Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
    • Remove the pan from heat and let the spices infuse in the syrup as it cools to room temperature.
  • Strain the Syrup:
    • Strain the syrup first through a regular strainer, then through a fine-mesh tea strainer to remove all solids.
    • Store the syrup in the refrigerator, where it will keep for several weeks.
  • Mix the Drink:
    • In an 8-ounce glass, measure 2 tablespoons of the infused syrup.
    • Lightly crush the lemon peel and mint leaves with the back of a spoon to release their flavors.
    • Squeeze the juice from one quarter of a lemon into the glass.
    • Fill the glass with ice and top with soda water, stirring gently to combine.
